To eat more and weigh less sounds impossible doesn’t it? But with a few simple facts and gaining a little knowledge you may be able to turn the tables on your weight loss success. You may actually lose unwanted pounds without having that constant hungry feeling.
Eating more and weighing less begins with learning a new way of eating that promotes weight loss without feeling hungry. You are eating healthier to lose weight.
Nine out of ten people who try to lose weight fail to keep it off. Dieters know that empty feeling in the pit of your stomach, not to mention that growling sound that erupts when you lower your food intake.
The key to eat more and weigh less is figuring out the energy density of foods. Energy density foods are divided into four categories:
1. Very low energy dense foods, which include most fruit and vegetables, skim milk and broth based soups.
2. Low energy dense foods, which include cooked grains, cold cereal with skim milk, low-fat meats and salads.
3. Medium energy dense foods, which include meats, cheeses, salad dressings, and snack foods.
4. High energy dense foods which include candy, chips, cookies, crackers and nuts.
Our senses play an important role in being comfortable and satisfied with the amount of food we eat. A meal begins with our eyes and tiny portions make us feel we will never be full. While large portions of food make us believe that when we are done we will be satisfied and happy.
The smell and taste of food also adds enjoyment to our meals. With larger amounts of food, we have more time to take in the sensory delights. More food takes longer to digest, which sends full-feeling messages to our brain. The more we eat the more satisfied signals our brain receives.
If you want to eat more and weigh less, most of the foods you eat should come from low energy dense foods (#2) and should be combined with fruit and vegetables from very low energy foods (#1).
You can combine medium energy dense foods (#3) in small amounts and you’ll have a full plate of food and won’t leave the table hungry.
The key to all of this is to train your senses by filling your plate full with the right kinds of food with fewer calories, which in turn means you can eat more and weigh less. read more

article:

The word is getting around that the modern dietary lifestyle is one of the reasons why Americans are overweight and burdened by chronic disease. The diet that’s right for us, according to many experts, is what our Stone Age ancestors ate. But is that realistic? Didn’t they eat food raw, and have lots of meat?
“There are loads of misconceptions about the Stone Age,” says physician-author Philip J. Goscienski, M.D. “Sure, they ate most foods raw, but keep in mind that man has controlled fire for more than a hundred thousand years, and not all their barbecues were accidental.”
We eat lots of our vegetables and most of our fruits raw, according to Dr. Goscienski, whose book, Health Secrets of the Stone Age, is due for a January 2005 release. Cooking, on the other hand, releases nutrients that would otherwise be less readily available, such as those in cereal grains and meats, and it gives us a head start on digestion.
Here are 10 foods that Stone Agers would find familiar if they were to drop in for dinner.
1. Lean meat. Remember that animals in the wild enjoy a huge variety of foods, not like farm-raised cattle, hogs and poultry. T-bone steaks from grain-fed cattle that stand around all day contain about 38 percent fat; the meat from active, grass-fed animals contains about 7 percent fat. Lean cuts of range-fed beef are not perfect substitutes for wild game, but it’s a start.
2. Poultry. Back in the Stone Age they could choose from hundreds of different kinds of birds whose meat and eggs provided plenty of nourishment, especially protein. We could have lots of variety too, if we worked at it. Instead, we settle for only two kinds of fowl: chicken and turkey. If you would really like to enjoy something from the Stone Age, try some wild game. You’ll find plenty of sources on the Internet. Search for “wild game meat.” Most meat markets can order pheasant or quail. Duck, goose and Cornish game hen are available at most major supermarkets.
3. Fish and other seafood. This includes lake and stream varieties. Their high content of omega-3 fatty acids may have helped our species become the dominant animal on the planet. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to the proper development of the brain and eyes, just what slow-moving humans with no claws or fangs needed eons ago in order to survive.
4. Leafy green vegetables. Until humans became skilled hunters, which took them a couple of million years, they were mostly vegetarians, as apes are today. It’s important to recognize that this food group is what our body chemistry was designed for, with its abundance of vitamins, folate, flavonoids and thousands of other nutrients that are essential for optimum health. Of course, they had no salad dressings, which are definitely not health foods, especially when eaten in the large quantities that most of us find so hard to resist.
5. Fruits. Hunter-gatherers, which we all were during the Stone Age, had an enormous, seasonal variety of fruits from which to choose. Of course, these plant products weren’t as large, plump and juicy as the ones in your local market, but without chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other pollutants they probably were a lot more nutritious. They certainly were not as sweet as our commercial hybrids, and they all contained much more fiber than domesticated fruit.
6. Berries. We tend to think of berries and fruits together, but there are some differences. Back in the Stone Age, berries, like fruits, were smaller and less sweet than our highly domesticated varieties. However, they are easy to gather, vary with the season, and are even more richly endowed with antioxidants than most fruits. Nutritionists advise that we eat some variety of berries every day.
7. Nuts. The health benefits of nuts become more apparent year after year. Walnuts, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts and pistachios contain healthy amounts of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, as well as substances that have heart-protective (saponins) and cancer-preventing (squalene) properties. So do peanuts, although strictly speaking they are not nuts, but legumes. The FDA recommends that we eat about 1.5 ounces of nuts a day, which is about 30 almonds, or the equivalent volume (one-third cup) of the other nuts. Depending on the type of nut, that’s about 240 to 300 calories, comprising one-tenth or more of the calories we take in every day, so don’t overdo it.
8. Roots. Folks back in the Stone Age probably got some of the minerals they needed (iron, copper) from the dirt left on the outside of edible roots. A modern Ms. or Mrs. Clean wouldn’t think of serving unscrubbed carrots! All root vegetables, with their abundance of fiber, vitamins and antioxidants, provide healthful substitutes for refined carbohydrates. Think of beets, yams, turnips, parsnips or carrots to replace rice or pasta, neither of which was available during the Stone Age.
9. Mushrooms. Mushrooms are such ancient forms of life that thousands of species populated the planet by the time humans arrived. More than likely, Stone Age people were aware of mushrooms that could kill as well as those that caused hallucinations. The several kinds of mushrooms that we find in the supermarket, fresh or canned, have moderate amounts of B vitamins and small amounts of healthy polyunsaturated fat. Mushrooms are likely to become more popular as their cholesterol-lowering and immune-boosting properties become better known.
10. Grains. I deliberately left this group for last because they are latecomers to the human diet. Before the Agricultural Revolution, which took place roughly 12,000 years ago, grains were not a major food source. Grain harvesting requires cutting tools, a method for removing the seed from the stalk, and storage containers, none of which were available tens of thousands of years ago. Without heating and grinding, humans cannot easily digest most grains. Our ingenuity and skill, however, eventually overcame these problems, and grains (including rice and corn) now constitute more than half the calorie intake of most people throughout the world. As long as these are whole-grain products, they bear at least a little resemblance to what our ancestors ate during the Stone Age.
None of these food items exist today exactly as they did in the Stone Age, but they form a healthy approximation, with good fats, phytonutrients, fiber, vitamins and minerals. A diet that contains only these ingredients is far from boring and is readily available. But be sure to wash those carrots!

article:

If you accept the analogy that our bodies are like an engine, then it follows that this engine will perform better if it receives the type of fuel that it was designed to run on. In years gone by, before artificially processed and manufactured foods, our bodies normally received the correct nutritional balance every day.
As more and more families saw both the husband and wife holding down jobs outside the home, the dynamics of eating, exercise and nutrition began to change. “Convenience” and “fast foods” became the norm, and farms were gradually replaced by processing plants. Today, the average meal is so laden with artificial preservatives and saturated fat that our bodies are starving for the ingredients that they need, and overflowing with the ingredients that they don’t need.
This nutritional imbalance manifests itself through weight problems, skin problems, tiredness, disease, and overall poor health. Although this problem has reached pandemic proportions, you can reverse the effects of poor diet in your own life if you truly want to.
Garbage In – Garbage Out
While this phrase may have been coined for the computer industry, it’s very relevant when it comes to our own body. Every moment that we are alive, our body is busy manufacturing the chemicals, fluids, proteins, and tissues that are required to keep us healthy. Food, or rather the nutrition that is derived from food, is what the body depends upon to handle all of these tasks.
Everything that we consume is used, stored, or discarded by the body. The body’s particular nutritional needs can vary widely depending upon what’s going on inside and outside of us at any particular time. Our body makes decisions on whether to burn carbs or fat based upon our immediate energy needs, how long it has been since our last meal, and the general condition of our health.
The body burns fuel in a very specific order. Alcohol is burned first because our bodies have no way to store it for later use. Protein is burned next, then carbohydrates and, finally fat.
Because fat is consumed last, and the average person has a diet which is rich in fat, our bodies store the fat away to be used at a future time. How is this fat stored? You guessed it; it’s stored as fatty tissue. And that’s why we call being overweight “fat”.
These excess fat stores not only affect our physical appearance, but they have a tremendous impact on our overall health. Study after study has shown that excess fat in our diets are directly linked to these medical conditions:
– Increased risk of developing certain cancers.
– Increased risk of arterial and heart disease due to elevated cholesterol levels.
– Increased risk of stroke.
– Increased risk of Diabetes.
– Increased risk of Liver disease.
– Direct impact on the body’s immune system.
Doesn’t it just make sense to avoid these unnecessary health risks by reducing the amount of fat that we consume every day? Of course it does. read more

To have regular bowel movements and escape constipation you need to eat more fiber. Fiber from raw vegetable and fruits is better for you than fiber from grains. Why? Raw vegetables and fruits are live foods with enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and many antioxidants that are charged electrically. They have a magnetic energy that is absorbed by your DNA. So get more fiber from this source and less from grains.
Don’t forget about water. If you don’t get enough water during the day, your body will take the water out of your fecal matter in the colon and make your stools hard. Drink a minimum of 3 glasses a day of pure water and work up to drinking 5-6.
Here’s where you need to do some “fiber work.” You need to increase your fiber intake to around 40 – 60 mg or more. Yes this is a lot. In the past, I recommended 35mg of fiber, but this is an average. You want to have more than the average amount. Here are some foods with high fiber. Add them to your eating habits so that you will not be constipated. Fiber does much more in your colon than make you regular, it: read more

Oh dear, oh dear, it’s that time of year but yet again! The holidays are over, Christmas has come and gone, and what is there to look forward to! Summer holidays I suppose, but they do seem such a long time away.
Anyway, I must confess that at the moment, even the thought of a holiday horrifies me, because after my over-indulgence during the festive season, the last thing that I want to be doing is even more eating and drinking.
So, if there is nothing to look forward to for now, and we are in the midst of the January depression, what on earth CAN we do to lift ouselves out of the blues at this time of year!
Here’s one thought for you, start right now and get fit. I suggest that not only will that make you feel heaps better, after a few weeks, you will even start to look forward to that summer vacation. Let me give you another more serious and compelling reason for this, and that is that we all shoud start to take our long term health much more seriously than we do at present.
At least that is my humble opinion.
Did you know for instance that current statistics reveal that 75% of Americans are overweight and 40% are obese. That is just in the US, and I am prepared to hazard an educated guess that the rest of the developed world is not far behind.
For those who desire to lose weight and obtain optimal health therefore, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.
>From the Atkins Diet to the South Beach Diet, from low fat to low carb diets, there are numerous weight-loss plans to choose from. In addition, given conflicting information as to what works best, it can be difficult deciding what to do.
For those who have tried many diet plans with no success, it becomes more difficult and frustrating. Many people forget that a diet might work wonders for their friend but won’t work well for them. This is not necessarily because the diet is “bad”, but because each body reacts differently.
However, there is a way to lose weight that is easy, fast, and doesn’t involve deprivation or calorie counting.
It is important to address some background information about body genetics and why weight loss can be difficult before I start to discuss weight loss tips.
At the start of any diet, it is important to note that each person has a different body build. Some people are short and stout, while others are tall and thin. Some have big hips and shoulders, and others are short and very muscular. Genetics can determine body shape and a person’s natural build just as it can do eye color, hair color, skin color, and so on.
The good news is that genetics do not determine whether or not one will be fat, but will determine one’s body shape.
This means that not every woman can expect to be tall and thin like a Hollywood actress or supermodel such as Tyra Banks. Not every man can expect to be defined and muscular like The Rock. The goal really, in my opionion, is to be at a comfortable weight for one’s body shape and to feel good about it.
Having said all that, why is it that people are overweight! I have listed ten of the most common reasons below:-
1. Slow metabolism – People who are overweight have a hard time “burning off” their intake of food. As a result the fat is stored up in the body, rather than used.
2. Emotional eating – Those who struggle with weight often eat when stressed, or when other emotional upheavals are happening in their life.
3. Hormonal imbalances – This does mainly apply to the ladies, (complex creatures that we are!).
4. Eating portions – We can all be guilty of the syndrome that I like to call “greed not need”. So watch out for those portion sizes.
5. A build up of toxins in the body – This can be due to too much junk food, candies, sodas, too much coffee, these can all contriubute to this.
6. Eating too late – Late-night eating can cause food to convert to fat a lot more easily, as well as making sleep more difficult.
7. A high susceptibility to growth hormones – These are the hormones which are given to animals to help them grow faster and larger. Some meat and dairy can have some residual growth hormones. These hormones can sometimes result in increased fat storage.
8. Not eating breakfast – This really does make your metabolism slow and sluggish.
9. Numerous diets – Going from diet to diet has a negative impact on the metabolism and causes weight loss to be much more difficult.
10. Food ingredients – The reasons why are amazing and beyond the scope of this article.
Here Are Seven Simple Steps For Easy Weight Loss
Now that there is a better understanding of body genetics, and why people have a tendency to be overweight, here are my tips for fast easy weight loss.
#1: Drink some water first thing in the morning. Ideally you should drink eight ounces of distilled water, bottled water, or filtered water (not tap water).
#2: Eat a big breakfast. Suggested foods to choose from are apples, bananas, rye bread with no sugar, plain yogurt, tuna, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, raw honey, and such like.
#3: Drink distilled water throughout the day: I recommend that you try and drink at least eight glasses per day.
#4: Walk non-stop one hour each day. This doesn’t have to be power walking, just walk at your own pace. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise you know!
#5: Try and stop eating after 6:00 PM. This is very hard for many people, but do the best you can. You will be surprised at how much you benefit from this.
#6: Do a candida cleanse. Candida is yeast overgrowth in the colon that can cause all kinds of health problems. Check online for “Candida Cleanse” or go to your local health food store.
#7: Do a colon cleanse: This cleanse cleans out the digestive system, which is clogged and sluggish in many overweight people. Once again, check online or go to your local health food store.
More and more people worldwide are becoming overweight. Extra weight can result in many health issues and negatively impact your emotional state and self-esteem. However for those struggling with this problem, there is hope, because you can lose it and keep it off if you really want to.
Now that you have a understanding of body genetics and why you might be overweight, why not take some positive action today!
Commit to trying at least a few of the steps, you will be glad that you did.

Stabalizing Your Blood Sugar
One of the best ways to help stabilize your Blood sugar is a simple process called portion control.
I myself have tendency to eat to fast. The problem with eating too fast is simple you eat too much. I will elaborate, we all get an emotional high from eating, afterall who don’t like to eat.
By eating to fast we do not give ourselfves time to become full.
Slow Down
The next time you eat try this, chew your food and enjoy the taste. Make a consious effort and try to slow down when eating. We are most likely to overeat by eating to fast, because we don’t give our bodies time to get full.
Hold Off For That Second Helping
Another way to challenge yourself is this instead of reaching for that second plate as soon as your first plate is gone, wait just 10 minutes. I will bet that by waiting it will be much easier to say no to that second helping.
Just think what 10 minutes could do for your overall health, blood sugar and weight.
Portions Size
If you can get through just a few days or a week of practicing the above mentioned tips you are on your way, now you try adjusting your overall portions of food intake.
Instead of filling your plate up. Let’s just go for smaller portions don’t be to drastic just reduce portion size a little bit each day or so. There is no need to measure or weigh your food just use your eyesite. It’s that simple! The best way to loose weight and keep your blood sugar down at the same time is by eating smaller portions. Give yourself time this will work. If you happen to overeat at one meal don’t beat yourself up just focus more the next time you eat.
Eat Frequently
I have analyzed my eating patterns and discovered that when I wait to long to eat and find myself starving, this is the time that I will most likely overeat. The best way to not do this is simple eat more often, and eat smaller meals. If you plan on eating every 3 hours or so you will see how just an apple and a half sandwhich will keep you full to the next meal. Waiting 4-6 between meals you will eat more and your body will suffer for it.
It is much easier for your body breakdown smaller portions and process the sugar that t0 stuff yourself.
Remember being diabetic your body cannot process extra sugar like most people.
So smaller meals= less sugar in your blood.

Many people falsely regard nausea as a kind of sickness. It is, rather, a symptom of a number of medical illnesses or conditions that are not necessarily related or linked to a stomach ailment. While this may be a sign of travel sickness for some people, nausea can also be one of the many effects of drug use and too much consumption of sugary food. In addition, nausea and vomiting are also the expected side effects of laboratory and surgical procedures as well as a sign of pregnancy.
Indeed, nausea may indicate serious body conditions that need immediate consultation. But for simple causes like air-sickness or migraine headaches, one does not need a doctor to remedy such condition. In fact, there are simple remedies that one can try at home. However, it is best to identify first the cause of nausea before trying out any suggested simple remedy.
Below are some of the most common causes of nausea and some no-brainer tips on how to easily get rid of it:
1.(Excessive) Intake of a certain food
A person can feel a sudden wave of nausea and vomiting after eating a certain type of food. For instance, nausea may occur if an individual who is lactose intolerant eats or drinks too much dairy products. There is really no need to panic and go straight to a doctor when this happens, for there are many medicines available today that can immediately remedy this condition.
2. As side-effect of medicine intake
Apart from too much intake of food, medicines can also cause nausea and vomiting as side-effects. With this, it is best not to take any medication without first consulting your doctor about it. Always ask for an alternative to medications that cause nausea or just simply lower the dosage intake.
3.Alcohol drinking
Some people often feel nauseous after drinking too much alcohol. To enjoy drinking sessions with friends without the hassle of constant vomiting and feeling of nausea, make sure to drink plenty of water before and after drinking any alcoholic drink.
4.Overfatigue
Too much work can really tire a person’s body, and fatigue can cause nausea and vomiting. To avoid this, it is always best to relax and unwind once in a while, especially if one is really tired.
Other tips to remedy a nauseous condition
Apart from the ones mentioned above, keeping the mind and brain busy is also one of the most effective and simplest ways to get rid of nausea. Brain-twisting activities like answering quizzes and solving complicated puzzles can definitely stimulate one’s mind. When a person’s brain is busy, he or she will eventually forget the feeling of nausea. Another way to get rid of nausea and vomiting is to eat low-fat crackers. Most doctors really recommend this, for eating a few can effectively abate nausea. However, eating too much crackers is discouraged by doctors. In addition, spices like peppermint and ginger are also known to be an effective folk remedies for nausea and vomiting. read more

Easy as 1-2-3: Obtaining Health Insurance

Many people are often concerned about obtaining health insurance. They are confused about their options or about how to obtain the best health insurance for them or their family. There are several ways to obtain health insurance, though, and some of them are not always obvious, but can be quite easy in the end.

Health insurance is commonly obtained through an employer. Nearly all employers these days offer some sort of “group” health insurance plan for employees. The term “group” simply denotes that there is a large group of people on the plan, which decreases the cost of the monthly premium for all members. These plans can cover yourself, your spouse, and your family, depending on the specific policy. Covering more than just yourself obviously increases your monthly premium, but the ability to cover your family inexpensively is a huge benefit. To obtain group health insurance through your employer, you should contact your human resources department or whoever is in charge of benefits in your company. You should be able to buy into the group health insurance plan at any time during your employment. read more

When standing up becomes a great difficulty and causes excruciating pain, or a mere sitting down can make the pain unbearably worse, chances are, it’s sciatica. Most likely, a person is suffering from sciatica when he or she experiences tremendous pain even while doing simple body movements. Sciatica or sciatic nerve pain is a condition in which the sciatic nerves in the body become inflamed. Sciatic nerves are found beginning at the lower spine and continue down the buttocks area, back of the legs, and into the feet. Symptoms of sciatica is characterized by a light tingling feeling or burning sensation to a full blown shooting pain that travels from the lower back, buttocks area, back of legs, and/or feet. More often than not, sciatic nerve pain affects only one side, although it could also be possible to run down both legs. Sciatica could be a frightening experience especially if you do not realize what is happening. One may begin to feel like becoming nearly crippled. However, most of the time, sciatica can be treated effectively.
Sciatica may occur when the nerve in the lower spine is pinched, or if there is a slipped disk. Arthritis or a sprained ligament will narrow the passageways of the nerves which may cause the nerve endings to become tender and inflamed. Other causes of sciatica, however rare, include an abscess, growth, or blood clot. Since sciatic nerve pain is caused by pressure and inflammation on the nerve root, sciatic pain relief treatment is generally focused on relieving both of these symptoms through surgical or non-surgical methods.
Non-surgical sciatic pain relief treatment may include one or a combination of medical treatments and alternative, non-medical treatments. Most of the time, it includes some form of exercise and stretching. If you are experiencing sciatica, it advisable to stay off your feet for the first few days. One of the things you must avoid is to get up and down repeatedly as this will only cause the nerve to become more irritated. Though some quarters pose questions on the benefits of bed rest, it is still advisable at least for the first few days.
It may also feel soothing to soak in warm baths to ease the pain. However, do not use heating pads while the nerve is inflamed. Prolonged heat will draw the inflammation in and will keep the swelling high. Rather, most healthcare professionals would advise the application of ice packs directly on the lower back area for 20 minutes at a time, every couple of hours. This may feel a little uncomfortable, but the cold packs will greatly help in reducing the swelling. Using mineral ice is also a good alternative in soothing the pain and offers a temporary sciatic relief.
Though some doctors may prescribe muscle relaxants for temporary relief of pain, caution is advised to prevent unnecessary side effects. Some medications can be addictive, or may give a false sense of feeling better.
Massage therapy is another method that is considered to be a highly effective non-surgical sciatic pain relief treatment. Massage treatments can keep your spine in better alignment for longer periods of time. As soon as your back begins to heal, your doctor may give you stretching and low impact exercises so that your muscles won’t stiffen too much. Be sure to engage in exercise only when your doctors approve it.
Alternative sciatic pain relief treatments that you might find available and helpful are acupressure, acupuncture, herbal therapies, homeopathy, biofeedback, and guided imagery to name just a few.
Surgical methods to remove the portion of the disc that is irritating the nerve root are microdiscectomy or lumbar laminectomy, and discectomy. Surgery helps relieve both the pressure and the inflammation especially if the sciatic nerve pain is severe and has not been relieved through medical treatments. read more

Aromatherapy, which has been well used for over 2000 years, is the practice of using distilled essences obtained from the leaf, stem, flower, fruit peel, bark or root of a tree. As the aromatic molecules from essential oils disperse in the air they:
# carry pleasant fragrances to your nose
# come in contact with the olfactory receptor cells in the nasal cavity
# transmit the information to the olfactory bulb which is a structure just above the nose.
# cause a response in the limbic system of the brain which works in conjunction with the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus region to regulate the hormonal activities
# trigger the production of hormones that govern appetite, body temperature, insulin production, overall metabolism, stress levels, sex drive and conscious thought and reactions.
Essential oils can have a positive affect on all these functions through the sense of smell which happens to be the most complex and sensitive of all the five senses. The sense of smell is over 10,000 times more sensitive than your sense of taste and researchers have shown how aroma causes a brain reaction by activating the hypothalamus gland, the pituitary gland and the body’s hormones as well as stimulating the emotion and memory.
Aromatherapy is particularly effective for stress, anxiety and psychosomatic induced problems, muscular and rheumatic pains, digestive disorders and women’s problems such as PMS, menopausal problems and postnatal depression. It is a natural and non-invasive therapy designed to help a person enhance the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain oneself.
Essential oils are very concentrated and their properties potent as they contain molecules small enough to enter your skin; except for oils of lavender and tea tree, the oils need to be diluted with a carrier oil, usually a vegetable oil such as sweet almond or jojoba, to avoid irritation before applying on the skin. The oils can be used in a vaporizer, sprays, bath, hot or cold compress, perfume or for topical body application or massage.
Some recommended essential oils for menopausal women:
# Bergamot uplifts mood and reduces anxiety and depression.
# Clary Sage eases hot flashes and night sweats and PMS.
# Chamomile has calming effect, ease tension, anxiety and headaches.
# Frankincense helps psychosomatic problems and anxiety.
# Geranium is a hormone balancer and reduces stress.
# Jasmine is euphoric and eases tension and anxiety.
# Juniper regulates period and relieves water retention.
# Lavender is sedative and aids sleep.
# Rose is a womb tonic and provides relief from pre menopause to post menopause.
# Sandalwood promotes vaginal secretions and stimulates the development of sex hormones.
# Ylang ylang is aphrodisiac and relaxes the nervous system.

Normal and Short-term Phenomenon
Early pregnancy back pain is a normal phenomenon in early pregnancy and it generally subsides after about 20 weeks. Back pain or spasm, which is reflected by stretching of muscles or burning pain in the left or the right side of the quadrant, is normally the result of the softening of the supporting ligaments and disks due to an increase in the progesterone hormone. In some cases, urinary infection can also result in back pain amongst pregnant women. The extra weight of a pregnant women’s body and the change in her centre of gravity also result in backaches and back pain.
The most important remedy for curing early pregnancy back pain is exercising. Walking, pelvic rocking, bridging (done by laying on the floor, bending your knees and lifting your buttocks into air), mini-crunches (done by laying on the floor), bending your knees and lifting your head on exhalation, are good exercises for pregnant women and can go a long way in relieving a back pain.
The right body posture and good body mechanics also play an important role in keeping one free of early pregnancy back pain. The right posture means standing straight and tall and is as essential in early pregnancy as before that. However, in late pregnancy, as the uterus becomes big, one tends to pull back her shoulders to offset the additional weight, which results in a back strain. One can reduce back pain in such a position by frequently changing her sitting position and avoiding standing for long periods.
Adequate rest and sleep are also essential for avoiding or eliminating early pregnancy back pain. Although one can do normal yoga exercises to eliminate minor back pain, one should seek proper medical help in case of a major pain in the back of a pregnant woman. Doctors often advice physiotherapy in such a case.
